A complaint for contempt is an action to enforce a prior order or judgment of the court. If one party is not living up to his or her obligations set forth in a prior order, then the other party may seek to enforce those obligations through a contempt action. Examples of a contempt action are non-payment of child support or denial of visitation rights.
